NMAER Legislative-CALL TO ACTION Update - February 19, 2019
I am writing this afternoon to provide you with an update on HB 2.
Yesterday morning the General Appropriations Act of 2019 (State Budget) was approved in the HAFC Committee on a 12-6 party line vote. HB 2 will next go to the House Floor for a vote (later this week) and then on to the Senate Finance Committee and Senate Floor for votes.
At this time we understand that operational funding for RHCA is included in HB 2, along with other agencies, for the coming year. What is NOT in HB2 is the additional funding requested in HB 95 to increase contributions to the RHCA program. Without the additional funding HB 95 is essentially dead. RHCA badly needs this additional funding to address it's solvency issue. It is vital that every retiree call the House Leadership Team and urge them to take action to include the additional funding in HB 95. This is CRITICAL. We also ask you to reach out to current educators and encourage them to call.
HERE ARE THE NAMES & TELEPHONE NUMBERS FOR THE HOUSE LEADERSHIP TEAM:
Rep. Brian Egolf, Speaker of the House, Office telephone 505 986-4782
