The Lake Arthur Municipal Schools Board of Education is seeking an exceptional educational leader to become the district’s superintendent beginning with the 2018-2019 school year. Lake Arthur Municipal Schools is a highly creative school district at the southern end of Chaves County in southeast New Mexico serves 105 students.

Key elements of the position for the person who is seeking to become superintendent of Lake Arthur Municipal Schools are: administrative experience as a Superintendent or in another administrative position, possesses integrity and high moral character, is goal-oriented, self-motivated and committed to working in a rural school district.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each performance responsibility and its associated duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Master’s degree in administration from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid New Mexico Administrator’s License.
  • Preferred three years administrative/supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership and communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and application of New Mexico’s public school budget and finance laws, regulations, and operations.
  • Able to use strategic planning to effect district progress and improvement in student achievement and district operations.
  • Certified Procurement Officer, CP), certified (willing to become CPO certified).
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and application of facility and property management.
  • Preferred experience with personnel management, NMTeach evaluation system, curriculum, RtI and differentiated instruction, knowledge of state academic standards and assessment system.
  • Able to use technology in supervision and management responsibilities.

Salary will be in the $90,000-$100,000 range and is negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience.

  4. Signed Agreement, Authorization, Waiver, and Release Form included within official application
  5. Three (3) letters of reference, one of which must be from a former supervisor.

Selection Process:

  • Preliminary screening will be done on the basis of information submitted by each applicant.


  • Interview will be by selection by Lake Arthur Municipal Schools’ Board of Education.
