SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY INFORMATION
The School district has less than 100 students but has consistently obtained high achievement in math, science and reading. This success is due to a creative and dedicated staff that provide innovative lessons and individual attention. Although Roy Schools is small, we have a 1:1 computer student ratio and state of the art technology in each classroom. The High School and Elementary School received an A and a B respectively in the 2017 state school grade report. The district is also proud of its 97% graduation rate and high marks on State–wide testing. It is a close knit school and community with the common goal to ensure our students are provided with high quality educational opportunities.
Located in the Northeastern quadrant of New Mexico, Roy is on a high plateau on the western edge of Harding County. At 6,000 feet above sea level Roy boasts of a mild climate that allows for year-round outdoor activities. Abundant wildlife and game animals make it a come-to place for hunters and nature seekers. From the Kiowa Grasslands to the Canadian River Canyon the panoramic views are breathtaking. History also abounds here! With stories of the Old Santa Fe Trail, cowboys and cattle drives, outlaws, Native American homelands and Spanish exploration. With a vivid imagination one can envision an untamed land with the likes of Kit Carson, Billy the Kid, Clay Allison, Blackjack Ketchum and other legends of the Old West.
